The Kromlov Castle consists of 40 buildings and palaces as well as five castle courts and a park spread out on 17 acres. With my guide on day one I visited the outside by car but then on day two (a rainy day) I took the Metro and tram up there and then walked down the steps to the center of the town. There were huge queues for tickets so I decided just to look around the courtyards and visit the Church of St Vitus. The castle was bought in 1602 by Emperor Rudolf II and changed hands a number of times before becoming the property of the Czechoslovak State in 1950. In 1992 the castle was added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List. “Desktop Krumlov -the community surrounding the castle is widely considered to be the prettiest town in south Bohemia and the perfect romantic getaway at any time of the year.”
